...de l'artiste. I know every girl thinks that they have the most amazing boyfriend on the planet, but I actually do. Sorry ladies. I'm not going to bore you with all of the sweet things he does, but you should definitely check out some of his artwork.
He also wrote and did the artwork for a children's book that was picked up by Penguin Publishing, titled
"Monster Fred Who Lost His Bed"
Like I said, amazing.
Make sure you go get the book when it comes out!!!!
Next week, we will see the first exhibition at Britain's Opera Gallery, of the street artist, Mr. Brainwash. But is he really a street artist? It's hard to call someone who samples the art of other artists, an artist himself. Eh...but who am I to say anything? I'm no artist and I'm certainly no art buff either, but when I mentioned Mr. Brainwash to my boyfriend, who is an artist of many sorts, he gave me an earful without pausing to hear what I had to say.
Those of you who have seen Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop," are familiar with Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash. So, in this documentary, Thierry decides to film and document his new found passion for street artists and ends up getting the camera turned on him in the end. After years of searching for the notorious street artist, Banksy, he is later introduced and finally convinced by the artist himself, to become an artist. So that's exactly what he does. Kind of. He invests all of his money in putting on his first art show in Los Angeles, and with the help of Banksy he becomes a success. I honestly think this is one big elaborate prank. His personality is over the top and ridiculous, and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm over all of the Warhol rip-offs and references.
So while thinking of my boo/other half, I stumbled upon this fantastical website with this Graffiti Alphabet break down.
Evan Roth has been breaking down the Graffiti Alphabet for years. Graffiti Taxonomypresents isolated letters from various graffiti tags, reproduced in similar scales and at close proximity. The intent of these studies is to show the diversity of styles as expressed in a single character. In these photographs, the ‘S' is reproduced from photographs of tags taken in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, while the 'A' is reproduced from tags from Central Park North to 125th St. in Harlem. This project is still in progress.
From 1967 to 1980 Emory Douglas created the visual branding for the civil rights movement. As the arts and culture officer for the Black Panthers, he uniquely stylised illustrations for leaflets, posters, and newspapers depicting black people in a way that hadn't been seen in mainstream media.
On August 18, a retrospective of Douglas's work will open at The Outsiders on Greek Street in London.
Illustrator, Fernando Degrossi, loves mixing cinema and art and I love what he's come up with for his Cinemart Collection! I can definitely appreciate a creative mind...his work on this project is great!
So I'm kind of over all of these Catholic extremists and their attacks on this video and the lyrics...I've seen words like "blasphemous" and "inflammatory" being thrown around and if you really...REALLY pay attention to the video you can clearly see that the entire thing is a metaphor for a relationship...she's in love with a man (Judas), that treats her like shit...and yes, ladies, we've ALL been there. Some groups are saying she's just doing this for attention...who gives a fuck??? clearly it's working, because she has yours. Others are saying that the religious portrayal is to make up for her mundane performance...kill yourself. I don't know if you noticed, but she killed it in the dance sequence in those 5 inch stilettos! Perfectly Executed.
#BitchUBettaWork!
Gaga isn't dumb, nor is she trying to shy away from the video's potentially offensive concept...her lyrics read:
"In the most Biblical sense, I am beyond repentance Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind But in the cultural sense I just speak in future tense Judas kiss me if offensed, Or wear ear condom next time"
Homegirl is clearly calling herself a "hooker" for fame who "vomits" (speaks) her mind...she's "beyond repentance" in the "biblical sense"...she can't be helped or saved...but in a "cultural sense," she's living and dealing with the modern times...so modern day is what she speaks on...and finally, if you don't like what she has to say, then don't listen...well, needless to say, I love it. Who is GaGa without the controversy and the ridiculously sexified outfits? Chelsea fucking Clinton. That's who. So leave my girl alone...all you haters need someone to talk about, so let her do her thing. No one wants to talk about Chelsea.
Just came across this random website...but the shit i found is actually kind of neato (burrito)...Tom Hardwidge, this British artist dood, made these insect sculptures out of watch parts and deactivated bullets...again, random but o-some...
Hmmmm...well I almost love it. Who knew plastic hangers and a steel bar could offer such simplistic functionality when put together...to form a coat check chair??? The team at Continuum Innovation takes a look at customer's needs to "uncover new opportunity to grow" for each brand of consumer products that they work with. Although I may not be the biggest fan of this coat check chair, I give the designer props for ingenuity...
(There's got to be a weight limit for this chair...it's plastic fucking hangers!)
Emma Roach is amazing and so is her work. She received her degree in Fine Art - Sculpture and ever since then, she's gone on to work for stylist, Sarah Richardson...Set Designer & Art Director, Shona Heath...and has created sets costume and props for a number of big European Mags. I'm fucking obsessed...#LoveIt
