Brainwashed: Don't Believe The Hype

Next week, we will see the first exhibition at Britain's Opera Gallery, of the street artist, Mr. Brainwash. But is he really a street artist? It's hard to call someone who samples the art of other artists, an artist himself. Eh...but who am I to say anything? I'm no artist and I'm certainly no art buff either, but when I mentioned Mr. Brainwash to my boyfriend, who is an artist of many sorts, he gave me an earful without pausing to hear what I had to say.
Those of you who have seen Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop," are familiar with Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash. So, in this documentary, Thierry decides to film and document his new found passion for street artists and ends up getting the camera turned on him in the end. After years of searching for the notorious street artist, Banksy, he is later introduced and finally convinced by the artist himself, to become an artist. So that's exactly what he does. Kind of. He invests all of his money in putting on his first art show in Los Angeles, and with the help of Banksy he becomes a success. I honestly think this is one big elaborate prank. His personality is over the top and ridiculous, and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm over all of the Warhol rip-offs and references.

So the bottom line is, please do not support this fuckery. If I'm not allowed to like him, then neither are you.
